Keeping your steering wheel controls with a CarPlay screen
It's the first question we're asked: “Will I keep my steering wheel buttons?” In the vast majority of cases, yes, as long as the right wiring harness is used.
Why a specific harness
On recent cars, the steering wheel buttons send their commands over the car's network (the CAN bus). The screen has to be able to read them: that's the job of the small “CAN bus” box supplied in the harness made for your model.
What you keep
- Volume up and down
- Next and previous track
- Answer and end a call
- Depending on the model: voice control (Siri or Google Assistant)
Special cases
On some vehicles with an amplifier or premium audio system, or some rare trim levels, an additional interface may be needed. That's why we check your version before you order.
